A primordial aim of the Philippe Vandenberg Foundation is to foster and sustain international interest in the oeuvre, practice and life of the artist Philippe Vandenberg. Through the research program that was set up in association with Ghent University, research on his legacy is being stimulated. The program mediates initiatives that enhance the visibility of the oeuvre and that encourage broader art historical valorization within an international perspective. To this end research activity is developed in the following five relating fields: archives, conservation, oral history, scholarship, and catalogue raisonné.

On a regular basis the Philippe Vandenberg Foundation collaborates in research projects with Universities and Art Schools, such as the Faculty of Art, Music and Theaterstudies of the Ghent University, the bachelor program conservation and restoration of the Antwerp University and the book binding studio of L’École de la Cambre, Brussels. Encouraging initiatives that engage with the œuvre of Philippe Vandenberg, ideas or proposals can be directed to: info@philippevandenberg.be.
