About the publication:
Philippe Vandenberg: Absence, etc. is the first monograph on Philippe Vandenberg since his death in 2009. The book includes a rich selection of paintings and works on paper spanning the years 1982-2009 inviting the reader to consider his oeuvre as a whole. Throughout the book, his trajectory can be followed as he regularly shifted directions, taking stylistic and formal detours, experimenting with figurative expression, lyrical abstraction, graffiti-like and comics-informed figuration, to finally resort to monochromes and word- and text-based paintings.
