Philippe Vandenberg. Kamikaze is the catalogue to the retrospective exhibition of the same name. The exhibition was held in 2018-2019 in the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg, and in 2019 in Kunsthaus Centre d’art Pasquart, Biel-Bienne. The catalogue includes a highly diverse and multifaceted body of paintings and works on paper by Vandenberg spanning the years 1995-2009. They attest to his kamikaze principle, a basic precept of which is that creativity is only possible through the deliberate destruction of what has gone before.
